The 76th Venice Film Festival was held in Italy from 28 August to 7 September. The awards were distributed at the end of the ceremony. Todd Phillips’ film Joker has been awarded the Golden Lion Award. The Venice Film Festival, established in the year 1932, is the oldest film festival in the world. It is one of the three major film awards in the world.

Volpi Cup for Best Actor: Martin Eden, Luca Marinelli
Volpi Cup for Best Actress: Ariane Ascaride, Gloria Mundi
Marcello Mastroianni Award: Toby Wallace, Babyteeth, dir: Shannon Murphy
Award for Best Screenplay: 7 Cherry Lane, dir. and written by: Yonfan
Special Jury Award: Franco Maresco for The Mafia is No Longer What it Used to Be
